Neck LiftIn Williamsville, NY
Neck lift surgery corrects visible signs of aging, such as sagging skin along the neck and jowls, vertical bands on the neck, and excess fat deposits beneath the chin (submental fat). When performed on the right candidate, neck lift surgery helps restore or create a more contoured jawline and profile.
Am I a Candidate for a Neck Lift?
Candidates for a neck lift include patients who want to tighten the skin of the neck, minimize wrinkles, and eliminate fat deposits for a more youthful appearance.
- Desire a youthful appearance for the neck and jawline
- Are unable to obtain desired results with non-surgical treatments
- Are generally in good health
- Do not smoke or are willing to quit
- Have reasonable expectations of results
A neck lift can tighten loose, sagging skin and wrinkles, emphasizing the jawline for a chiseled, sculpted contour.
What Are the Benefits of a Neck Lift?
A neck lift can provide a younger, more cohesive look. Many patients pair this procedure with a facelift for a balanced facial and neck rejuvenation.
A neck lift can:
- Eliminate loose, sagging skin or your “turkey neck”
- Improve neck banding for a smoother surface
- Remove fat deposits (double chin) for a chiseled look
- Enhance the jawline by removing excess skin
Dr. Raymond Schultz understands the precision that goes into a successful neck lift. The first step towards facial rejuvenation is your consultation, in which Dr. Schultz will examine your neck and listen to your concerns, goals, and vision for your results.
What Is Involved in a Neck Lift Procedure?
Dr. Schultz offers two neck lift options to address your concerns.
Full Neck Lift
During a full neck lift, incisions are made under the chin and behind the ears. The platysma muscle is tightened, excess fat is removed, and the tissues are repositioned before excess skin is carefully trimmed. The new contouring is secured with sutures, and the incisions are closed.
- An undefined jawline or jowls
- Neck bands
- Sagging and wrinkled skin
- Displaced fat
Liposuction Neck Lift
Patients with good skin quality and whose main concerns have to do with excess or displaced fat can benefit from liposuction alone. Small, inconspicuous incisions are used to suction out fat through a cannula.
- Fat along the jawline
- Displaced fat that hangs in the neck
- A double chin
During your consultation, Dr. Schultz will review your neck lift options to determine the best technique for your specific concerns.
What Is Neck Lift Recovery Like?
Following your neck lift, you can expect some bruising and swelling. A drainage tube may be placed to remove and collect excess fluid or blood, and you will be given specific instructions from Dr. Schultz on how to care for your surgical site and drains.
Your neck may feel some tightness, which will subside after a few months. Bruising and swelling should start to lessen by day four or five; however, you should expect some swelling for several weeks, if not longer. It is important to rest as much as possible following your surgery and avoid all strenuous activities for at least three to six weeks or until cleared by Dr. Schultz.
You should be able to return to your normal activities, including work, after one month.
What Results Can I Expect After a Neck Lift?
Any scarring from the small incisions will be hidden behind the ears and chin, which will eventually fade in time. After your neck lift procedure, you can expect a tighter, smoother appearance to your neck with a more contoured jawline.
